It is a matter of extreme pride and prestige that for the second consecutive year, four students of our school (Anubhav Kumar Srivastava, Sakshi Singh, Yashraj Dhanuka and Pranshu Nigam) won the Infosys Foundation ISCA Travel Award 2015. They received this prestigious prize from the Great Missile Man of India, former President of India Dr. A. P. J. Kalam on the occasion of Inaugural ceremony of 22nd Children Science Congress in 102nd session of Indian Science Congress held at Mumbai University from 3rd-7th January 2015. The 83 years old legend of inspiration instigated the power of excellence during the inaugural speech of Children Science Session. He explored the dream of an additional planet in the near future in order to accommodate the ever growing entire humanity. He pointed to the field of genetic engineering and the remedies for the crucial diseases invented to transform human civilization.
The 102nd Indian Science Congress’ inaugural session was graced by the presence of Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi who received a warm welcome. In his much anticipated speech, he stressed upon the need for science, technology and innovation. After the inaugural ceremony, there was plenary session by Dr. K. It was a rare occasion for students to meet and interact with a galaxy of eminent scientists. Our students were highly motivated and inspired by Nobel Laureates such as Dr. Randy Schekman (2013 Nobel Prize winner in Physiology and Medicine), Prof. Alexander Gliko(Nobel Laureate) and Dr. Manjul Bhargava (2014 Field Medalist).
It was a memorable experience for all of us to attend the first Press Conference addressed by the great Nobel Peace Prize winner of 2014 Dr. Kailash Satyarthi after returning from Oslo. He had an interaction with Anubhav, Sakshi and Yashraj, gave autographs and had a photo session with them.
The trip was overall a memorable and exuberant experience for the students with lot of fun including visits to the prominent tourist spots of the city like the Juhu beach, Marine Drive and Bandra Warli Sea Link.
